Background

From 1 January 2004, community housing providers seeking accreditation have been evaluated and accredited under the second edition of the National Community Housing Standards and the revised accreditation system. Under this revised system, Accreditation Status Reports for those organisations that are accredited are made publicly available.

Methodology

The community housing provider evaluates its own performance by using the Self-Study Report. The evaluation team then visits the organisation to carry out the external evaluation. The process of external evaluation involves an intensive process of information gathering. This may include:

Assessment criteria

The evaluation team has assessed the organisation's performance by rating them against each standard on a five-point scale, as outlined below:

Surpassed
Performance meets expectations in all of the three categories of evidence*, and at least one category has exceeded expectations.
Met
Performance meets expectations in all of the three categories of evidence*.
Partially Met
Where there are no categories of evidence* not met, and any of the three categories is partially met.
Not Met
Where there is a not met rating in any of the three categories of evidence*.
Not Applicable
The standard cannot be met by the organisation because external legislation, organisational definition or funding policy guidelines prevents it from doing so.

*The three categories of evidence are documentation, processes and measuring outcomes.
